DAY 1: AIRPORT – PRAIJING – LAPOPU WATERFALL

Upon arrival your Sumba tour will start right away. the first stop of the journey will bring us to Praijing village. The entrance of Praijing is on top of a hill and if you want to walk through the entire village, you actually have to walk down the hill. You will have an overview of the entire village at the entrance. The inhabitants of the village built a spot where you can have an amazing panoramic view of the village and beyond. Praijing is surrounded by the beautiful endless nature of Sumba.

Next on the Sumba tour will be the Lai Popu Waterfall. After a drive through the endless hilly and green landscape of Sumba, you will arrive close to the waterfall. To visit the waterfall, we will need to do a small hike of approximately 15 minutes and cross a bamboo bridge to get there. There is a nice spot to sit down where you can watch the water that is finding its way down the hill. Don’t forget to bring your swimming clothes so you can take a dive in the water just in front of the big waterfall and cool down after a long day of adventure. Day 1 of the Sumba tour is a fact and we head back to your accommodation for the night.

After breakfast, we will continue the Sumba tour in West-Sumba. We will stop at one of the many nice villages in the Lamboya & Wanokaka district, called Waigali. Waigali is a village located on top of a hill where we will have a spectacular view. With one of the oldest villages that is still very much alive in Sumba, we will get to know the island better and better.

After the visit to Waigalli, we will make our way to Marosi beach. This long, white sand beach is the perfect place to have a relaxing and quiet walk on the beach. Like many beaches in Sumba, it is very likely that you will have this beach for yourself.  Nearby Marosi Beach, there is Kerewee beach. Kerewee is an amazing place to drink and eat a fresh coconut which you can buy from the locals. The magical big rocks in the water are making this beach truly unique. B

Believe it or not but there is another beautiful beach nearby which is a must-see if you are nearby. The beach of Watubela is just 15 minutes of walking from Kerewee beach. During the small hike we will be surrounded by coconut trees. When we arrive, you will immediately have a fantastic panoramic view. When you get on the beach, you can enjoy this beautiful place with blue water and a big wall of yellow rocks. In the middle you will see some big flat grey rocks where from we can have a view from above. This beach also has a secret cave. Try to find it when you are there and be amazed about how big the cave is. We finish day  2 of the Sumba tour by heading back to the hotel for a goodnight sleep to prepare for more Sumbanese Adventures .

DAY 3: WAITABAR/TARUNG – AIRPORT

After the breakfast at the hotel we will have some free time on the last day of the Sumba tour, until it is time to transfer to the airport. If time gives us the chance, we will make a short visit to the village of Tarung – Waitabar. Both of the villages are located next to each other (literally!) and are still very much alive. These villages are located inside the capital of Waikabubak, and the villagers are still practicing what they practice since the old times. This is a clear example of how tradition can persist inside a more modern city. After the visit we drive directly to Airport of Tambolaka and wave you goodbye as you travel to your next destination.
