Explore South West Sumba Island
Full Day Tour: Bondo Kapumbu Village – Katewel Beach (Salt Making Farmer Visit) – Rumah Budaya Sumba – Lendongara Hill Sunset
The day will begin with a visit to Bondo Kapumbu village in the Karuni area, where you will meet the locals, learn about their culture, and see traditional Sumbanese houses. Here we will see the traditional high-roofed houses, made all by hand and traditionally. Then we will continue our trip to Katewel Beach, a hidden beach in south-west Sumba, where you can find the local farmers making salt in a traditional way. Then we go to the museum of Rumah Budaya Sumba (Sumba’s cultural center), but before that, we go to a local restaurant for lunch. It was built in the style of a traditional Sumbanese house, and the surrounding grounds are dotted with Marapu stone carvings. Among other artifacts, the collection includes ikat, stone and wood carvings, traditional jewelry, and a handful of everyday items you can find here. After the museum, we go to Lendongara Hill to enjoy the beautiful sunset. There is a spot where you can see the view of Sumba from above and the sea in the distance.
